How To Use iOS App Library On iPhone and iPad – Guide

iOS users now have access to the App Library, a new way of organizing their apps. It automatically categorizes programs and makes them easily accessible, while also allowing users to prevent newly downloaded apps from appearing on their Home screen.

What is the App Library?

The App Library on the latest iPhone offers a range of features to help users organize and access their apps more easily, including automatically generated categories/folders, the ability to hide app pages, a new way to manage downloads, an alphabetical list of apps and more. Located at the end of your home screen, it provides an updated UI with customizable widgets of different sizes.

How to use the iPhone application library

Accessing the App Library

For a quick way to access recently used apps, head to the last page of your device’s home screen.

Swipe right one more time to complete the action.

Apple has unveiled the App Library, a new feature that automatically organizes apps into categories.

Using the App Library

Open an app with a tap.

Looking for an app? Use the search bar at the top of the page to quickly locate what you need.

To access all the apps in an App Library folder, tap the four small app bundles located in the lower right corner of a category.

Swiping down from the top of the App Library reveals an alphabetical list of all apps, though Siri was unable to launch it.

Hiding iPhone Application Pages

You can speed up access to the App Library by hiding app pages in the iPhone library.

Press and hold on an empty space on your home screen or within any app to access additional options.

Tap the app page dot icons at the bottom center of the screen while in edit mode to access different pages.

Users can now customize their app pages by unchecking the ones they want to hide.

Complete the task by tapping the Done button in the top right corner.

Reversing the steps taken to hide an app’s pages will make them visible again at any time.

Managing the Application Library

New app downloads will now appear in the Recently Added section of the App Library, with the option to change this in Settings. An alert will appear after editing app pages to confirm this.

To make new downloads appear only in the App Library and not on the home screen or an app page, go to Settings> Home Screen and select “App Library only”.

Users can opt to receive a notification badge for quick access to their apps with the “Show in App Library” feature.

Going beyond

To delete apps, press and hold on a category name or a black space in the app library.

Press and hold an app in the App Library to add it back to your home screen.

Apple’s App Library feature, which automatically creates categories for apps on the home screen, currently does not allow users to rename or reorganize the categories. It is hoped that this capability will be added in a future update.

Users can still organize their home screens and app pages with folders, as well as take advantage of app library categories and folders to further organize their apps.
