How to fix Chrome’s crashing issue – Guide

Chrome is the most popular internet browser, with 71% of the market share as of July 2019. Despite its success, it has caused frustration for many users.

Google Chrome users on Windows 10 are reporting frequent crashes, leading to data loss, disruption of work and difficulty browsing the web.

If Chrome crashes, here are some strategies to help you get back up and running. Avoiding the disruption of a crash is the goal.

How to Fix Chrome Crash Problem

Good news for those who got caught with the bug: a Google community manager has published a list of possible solutions, so you can switch back to your preferred browser.

Google has confirmed reports of ongoing crashes and released an update to address the issue. The update, which applies to both Windows and Linux users, can be found in the How to fix section.

For Windows:

Shut down all Chrome windows now.

Reopening Chrome does not resolve the issue, as the broken behavior persists.

To ensure your device is up to date, leave the Chrome browser open for at least five minutes.

Closing and restarting Chrome after five minutes should resolve the issue.

The app will update to the latest version, including a patch, in five minutes.

For Linux devices:

To find your Chrome user profile, navigate to the directory it’s stored in.

Google Chrome users can customize their browsing experience by accessing the .config folder in the Google Chrome directory. This folder contains settings that allow users to personalize their browser, such as changing the default search engine and homepage.

Users of the Chrome browser should delete the content from their user profile subdirectory Origin Trials.

A directory labeled “1.0.0.7” should be included.

To fix certain Chrome issues, users should delete the Local state file from their Chrome user profile.

Google’s Chrome browser is now available for use, with the expected loading capabilities.
