How to Setup Parental Controls on Windows 10/11 PC – Guide

Parents can keep their children safe while using the computer by enabling and optimizing parental controls in Windows 10/11. This requires logging in to Windows with a Microsoft account and setting up the child account as a child account. Once enabled, parents can restrict which programs are run, which websites are visited, how much time is spent on the computer each day, and receive detailed reports on their activities.

Parents of children using Windows 10 or 11 must now create a Microsoft account for their child in order to access the device. This is different from earlier versions of Windows, but parents can still control their child’s online activity by setting up parental controls and managing internet settings.

To access Family & Other Users settings, go to the Accounts tab in Settings.

To manage family settings or remove an account, click the corresponding option.

Parents can choose which of their children’s accounts to set up with parental controls.

Parents should establish a limit on the amount of time their children spend using screens, such as computers, tablets and smartphones.

Parents can set up content filters to restrict access to websites, apps and games on their children’s devices.

Companies must implement measures to track and limit spending.

Go to Settings > Accounts > Family and other users, then select Manage family settings online or remove an account. This will take you to the Microsoft Family Safety page in your browser, where you can set up parental controls for the chosen child account.

Parents can monitor their child’s online activity and restrict access to age-appropriate apps and games by turning on the Enable Activity Reporting option in the Content Filtering tab. They can then set an age limit for apps and games in the Apps and Games section.

Parents can choose to grant or deny their child access to a certain app. To allow access to an app that has been blocked, they can click the “Remove link” button in the “Blocked Applications” section.
