How to Set and Use Location-Based Reminders on iPhone – Guide
Apple’s Reminder app on iOS can help you remember tasks when you arrive or leave a place, thanks to its geofencing feature. This location-based reminder can be useful for a variety of tasks, such as picking up groceries on the way home from work or taking care of household chores when you get back.
In 2013, Apple introduced a new feature to its iOS and macOS operating systems: location-based reminders. This allows users to set up alerts that will be triggered when they enter or leave a certain area, such as their office. Despite its usefulness, many people are unaware of how to use this feature. This article explains how to set up location-based reminders on iOS and macOS.
How to Set a location-based reminder
To create a location-based reminder, you must first enable Location Services for the Reminders app. Then, either create a new reminder or edit an existing one and follow the steps to set it up. Once complete, you’ll be alerted when you reach the designated location.
To set a reminder, users can create a new one or select an existing one and tap the info icon.
Tap the button to toggle your location.
Tap Current to be reminded the next time you’re at your current spot.
Touch Home’s alert feature notifies you when you arrive at your destination.
Tap the Getting In app to be notified when you enter your vehicle.
Set a reminder alert with Getting Out the next time you exit your vehicle.
Set a reminder alert for your home, work, or other locations with the Custom option.
Users can create a custom location by entering their business name or address and tapping to select it.
Tap the toggle button to choose whether you’re Arriving or Leaving, and get an alert when you reach your destination or depart.
If you want to be reminded when you’re nearby, select “Arriving” to ensure you don’t forget.
Tap and drag the point on the location circle to adjust the radius of your reminder, so you’ll be alerted even if you’re just passing by.
Tap Details to save the location of a reminder.
Once you’ve finished creating your reminder, tap the “Done” button to save it.
