How to send a file through AirDrop from your iPhone, iPad, or Mac – Guide

AirDrop makes it easy to wirelessly share files, photos and movies between iPhones and Macs. With AirDrop, users can quickly exchange files with friends and family who have Apple devices in close proximity. Here’s how to turn on AirDrop and use it to send files from iPhone to Mac or vice versa.

AirDrop enables Apple device owners to quickly and easily share files over a secure WiFi network created by Bluetooth. To use it, both devices must have Bluetooth and WiFi enabled, as well as AirDrop activated, within a 30-foot range.

on Mac

To access AirDrop, open the Finder and click on “AirDrop” in the upper left corner of the side panel or select it from the “Go” menu in the taskbar.

To use AirDrop on a Mac, make sure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled. Then, in the AirDrop window, select who can access it by choosing either “Contacts Only” or “All” from the “Allow me to be discovered by” option.

On iPhone and iPad

Tap the “General” tab. iPhone users can access their device’s settings by tapping the “General” tab in the Settings app.

Head to the General page and select AirDrop for easy file sharing.

You can control who can see you on AirDrop by selecting either “Contacts Only” or “All”. Opting for the former is safer, but if you need to receive files from many people, choosing “All” is more convenient.

Be mindful when using AirDrop in public places, as anyone nearby can send files to you. Exercise caution when deciding who to accept files from.
