How to use an Android phone or tablet to print a Document – Guide

Mobile printing is now available on iOS and Android, allowing users to print documents directly from their smartphones without the need for a third-party program. This provides SMBs with more flexible printing options, enabling them to quickly and easily print documents even when away from their desk.

With just a few taps, you can print documents from your iPhone. To do so, press the share button in the app you’re using. If your phone doesn’t have built-in printing capabilities, download the Google Cloud Print app to get started.

Portable printers offer a convenient solution for business travelers who need to print on the go. These devices, which connect to Apple and Android mobile devices, provide quick and easy printing capabilities at a slightly higher cost than traditional printers.

How to print using Google Cloud Print

Google’s Cloud Print makes it easy to print from any device, no matter where you are. It’s built into Android, so there’s no need to download or manage third-party software. To get started, just follow the steps outlined in the Google Play Store.

Add a printer to Google Cloud Print

To use a printer with Android, you must first add it to Cloud Print. Ensure the printer is on and both it and your device are connected to Wi-Fi before proceeding.

To print from your Android phone, open the Settings app and search for “Printing.” Tap the option that appears or navigate to Settings > Connected Devices > Connection Preferences > Printing.

For a straightforward printing experience, we suggest using Cloud Print. Other options may be available, but Cloud Print is the simplest to use.

To add a printer, tap the menu button in the upper right corner and select the ‘Add Printer’ option.

Cloud Print makes it easy to connect your printer to your Wi-Fi network: simply tap the device and you’re ready to print.

How to print using Google Cloud Print

Connect your printer to Google Cloud Print and print a file from your Android phone with ease. Here’s how:

To print a file or photo, simply locate it in an app like Gmail or Chrome and hit ‘print’.

To print a document from an Android device, tap the three-dot menu button in the upper right corner and select the option to print or export. If this option is not available, save the document as an image or file and access it through either the Android Files app or Google Photos app to print.

Tap the Print button.

Cloud Print will connect to the printer you’ve added, but if you have multiple printers, you’ll need to select the one you want to use.

Printing documents just got easier with the ability to select the number of copies, paper size, color or black and white images, page orientation and more. Simply tap the down arrow for additional options.

To print, simply tap the blue printer icon located on the right side of your screen.

Printing from an Android device is now simpler than ever. To print from a PC, simply open the file you wish to print and send it to a printer. Even if your printer isn’t connected to the same network, you can still print if it’s Internet-compatible.

This guide provides a step-by-step tutorial on how to print from Android devices, including instructions for printing remotely without Google Cloud Print, which is no longer available.

To use Android 10 on a Pixel 3, follow these steps. Note that the instructions may vary for other devices and printer models. For cloud printing, refer to your printer’s manual for specific instructions.

Use the default print service

Android users can now easily print from their devices with the help of Wi-Fi enabled modern printers. By enabling the default print service feature, both devices must be connected to the same local network for Android to detect your printer. Once connected, users can then print photos directly from Google Photos.

Ensure your Wi-Fi printer and Android device are both connected to the same local network for seamless printing.

To access the settings panel on an Android device, pull down the curtain and tap the gear icon.

The Touch Default Print Service has been launched, allowing users to quickly and easily access printing services.

Activate the service by tapping the toggle button and your Wi-Fi compatible printer will appear.

To print an image from the Google Photos app, simply slide the settings screen closed and open the desired file.

Tap the three-dot menu icon, typically found in the top right corner, to access the default viewer.

Tap the Roll-up menu to access the Print option.

Tap the printer icon to select a printer.

Choose the printer that was already set up by the default printing system.

To complete the task, tap the blue printer icon and confirm with an OK when prompted.

Use the printer plugin

Users of older Android devices running version 4.4 or newer should install a plugin, while those with Android 10 do not need one.

Ensure your Wi-Fi printer and Android device are both connected to the same local network for successful printing.

To access the settings panel on an Android device, simply pull down the curtain and tap the gear icon.

Tap the appropriate plugin from your printer manufacturer, such as HP Print Service Plugin, Canon Print Service, or Epson Print Enabler, to enable printing.

Manufacturers now have the option to access their print service directly from the print page, with a simple swipe to close the settings panel.

Tap the three-dot menu icon in the upper right corner of the Google Photos app to open the file you want to print.

Tap the Roll-up menu to access the Print option.

Tap the blue printer button to complete the task. If a confirmation window appears, select ‘OK’ to confirm.

Use Wi-Fi Direct

If your printer supports Wi-Fi Direct, you can now print from Android devices.

To access the settings panel on an Android device, pull down the curtain and tap the gear icon.

Tap the Network & Internet option in your device’s settings menu to access its related features.

Tap Advanced to unlock more options, including Wi-Fi Direct.

Users should physically interact with their printer to ensure it is properly detected.

Connecting to the printer has been accepted.

To print a file, open it in the relevant application and tap the three-dot menu icon in the upper right corner. For example, with Google P.

Tap the Roll-up menu to access the Print option.

Tap the added printer to select it.

Press the blue button on the printer to complete the task.

Take advantage of your printer’s cloud service to access documents and print from anywhere.

Printers now offer cloud printing capabilities, such as Epson Connect. This service allows users to print from any location by sending an email to the printer’s dedicated address, which is created during setup.

To print from your Android device, you can use any email client or the Epson iPrint app. We’ll use the latter as an example, since it’s the printer we have.

Use the manufacturer’s app

Epson iPrint is the application to use when printing with an Epson printer. Although the process may vary depending on the printer manufacturer, these steps provide an overview of how it works.

Epson iPrint offers five services: printing photos, documents, from the cloud, scanning and capturing documents. To add a registered Epson printer to the app, tap the blue “Printer Not Selected” banner.

To print remotely, tap the Remote tab rather than the Local tab, which will appear if you are at home.

Users can access additional features by tapping the “Add” button at the bottom of their screen.

Tap ‘Yes’ to confirm that your cell phone data plan may incur additional charges.

Enter the printer email address you created during setup, likely ending in print.epsonconnect.com, or tap Get email address if you haven’t done so yet.

The app will complete the process of adding a printer with a single tap of the “Done” button.

Print photos quickly and easily by tapping the Print Photos service on the home screen, selecting your desired photos, and following the instructions.
