Guide: Fix ‘Microsoft Store Missing’ Issue in Windows 10

Microsoft Store, formerly known as Windows Store, is an essential part of every Windows computer. It offers thousands of free and paid apps and comes pre-installed with the Windows operating system. But some users have reported that the Microsoft Store has gone missing from their Windows 10 devices.

The recent Windows OS update has caused the Microsoft Store to disappear for many users. However, a virus or other malicious software may also be responsible. Here are four ways to restore the Microsoft Store and fix the problem.

1. Run the Microsoft Store troubleshooter

The Windows operating system includes a troubleshooter to help identify and fix issues with the Microsoft Store. To use it, simply follow the steps outlined.

Launch your PC’s Settings menu by pressing the Windows key + I on your keyboard.

To update your device, select ‘Update and security’ from the settings menu.

Tap ‘Troubleshoot’ in the left pane to access the Troubleshoot Windows section.

To fix Windows Store app issues, scroll to the ‘Find and Fix Other Problems’ section, click on ‘Windows Store apps’, then tap the ‘Run the Troubleshooter’ button.

The Windows Store Apps troubleshooter can be accessed by opening a new tab.

The Microsoft Store can be restored to your computer with the help of a troubleshooter. After running the diagnostic, restart your device and the Store should be back in action.

If the troubleshooter doesn’t solve the issue, move on to another solution.

2. Reset Microsoft Store Cache

Users can reset the Windows / Microsoft Store cache by using the Run command in the Windows operating system.

Resetting the Microsoft Store app with the ‘Windows Store Reset’ command can help repair and restore it.

To reset Windows Store, type “wsreset” into the search box and select “Run as administrator” from the right pane.

Resetting the Windows Store can be done in just a couple of minutes by launching a new Command Prompt window and running the reset command. To ensure the process goes smoothly, it is best to refrain from using the computer while it is running.

Once the command prompt is done, the Microsoft Store app will launch automatically.

The cache reset process is complete when the Microsoft Store icon appears in the blue window with spinners. If it’s not there, restart your computer and check again.

3. Reinstall / re-register the Microsoft Store

If the Microsoft Store is missing from your computer, you can reinstall it using Command Prompt or Windows PowerShell. Here’s how.

Using the command prompt

To access the command prompt, users can type “cmd” into the search box of their PC.

Tap the ‘Run as administrator’ option for the Command Prompt app to proceed.

Enter the following command into the command prompt console and press Enter:

Run the PowerShell command “Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted” followed by “Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register (Get-AppxPackage WindowsStore).InstallLocation + ‘AppxManifest.xml’” to re-register Windows Store apps.

Once the command has been executed, restart your computer.

Using Windows Powershell

To access the Windows PowerShell, users can type “powershell” into the search box of their PC.

To launch Windows PowerShell, select ‘Run as administrator’ from the menu.

Run the command Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted in the Powershell console to enable script execution.

The Windows Store can be reinstalled with a simple command line instruction. By entering the command “Get-AppXPackage * WindowsStore * -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$ ($ _. InstallLocation) AppXManifest.xml”}”, users can quickly restore the Windows Store to their device.

Once the command has been executed, restart your computer.

Reinstalling the Microsoft Store using system tools can restore the app to your computer.

To ensure success, make sure your computer is connected to the internet.

4. Reset your PC

If the above methods don’t work to restore the Microsoft Store app, you may need to reset your Windows 10 computer. This will reinstall the Windows operating system and standard programs, including the Microsoft Store. However, it will also remove any third-party applications, settings and utilities that were installed manually.

To reset your Windows computer, follow these steps: open the Settings app, select Update & Security, click Recovery, and then select Reset this PC.

Press Windows Key + I to open the Windows settings menu.

Tap the “Update & Security” option in the Settings menu.

Choose “Recovery” from the menu.

Tap the “Get started” button in the “Reset this PC” section to begin resetting your computer.

Choose the ‘Keep my files’ option to reset your PC without deleting personal files.

After resetting your PC, the Microsoft Store should be restored upon setup.
