Guide: Enable Audio in TeamViewer on Windows 10 PC: Guide

My friend’s PC had a TeamViewer issue that required audio to troubleshoot, but there was no sound coming through. Despite the setback, I had to find a solution since the problem needed audio to be resolved.

The sound settings are often the cause of audio issues during remote meetings or control sessions. It could be an issue with the individual module or the program running on the other person’s computer.

This post will explain how to enable audio on Windows 10 computers using TeamViewer.

Audio in sessions with remote control

To set up Team Viewer, open the program and select “Options” from the main window’s “Tools” menu.

Click the “Remote control” option at the top of the page, then check the box for “Play computer sounds and music” in the Default settings section.

To ensure audio works properly when connecting remotely, both computers must have the above option enabled.

If you’re having difficulty hearing sound from other applications, such as VLC, check the audio settings in VLC to get it working.

To adjust the audio output in VLC, go to Tools> Preferences, select the Audio tab and set the Output module to WaveOut audio output. Select speakers and press OK.

Audio in meetings

TeamViewer Meetings make it easy to adjust audio settings without leaving the meeting interface, so you don’t have to go searching for them.

To enable audio sharing during a meeting, simply tap the gear icon on the Screen Share card and select “Share computer sounds and music” - that’s all it takes for participants to hear audio almost instantly.

To ensure a smooth virtual meeting, remember to mute your microphone when not speaking.

More TeamViewer Tricks

1. Record sessions automatically

You can now record Remote Control sessions automatically - no more forgetting to hit the record button!

Enabling automatic screen recording in the Remote Control options menu makes it easy to capture sessions without having to manually press the record button.

2. Optimize speed

Remote sessions and video calls often don’t live up to the expectations set by movies. While a little lag is tolerable, it can be frustrating when the cursor moves in an erratic manner.

Optimizing speed can help improve a slow or bad connection. To do this, click View and select Optimize speed. Alternatively, clicking Optimize quality can also help.

3. Set up a confirmation window

TeamViewer’s default settings give remote users full access to your computer, but you can opt to require permission before granting control.

To access advanced settings for connecting to a computer, go to Tools> Options, select ‘Advanced settings for connection to this computer’ under Access Control, then click Configure and choose Custom Settings.

To complete the task, simply click the Manage My Computer drop-down menu and select After confirmation - no further steps required.

4. Reboot like a pro

Restarting a client computer no longer requires closing TeamViewer and reopening the connection to check if changes have been made. There’s now a shortcut available.

Users can restart their device by clicking Action on the toolbar and selecting Restart.

If the other machine has Windows login with password enabled, this process won’t work.

Take remote sessions like a pro

TeamViewer is a free, multi-platform remote access tool that makes it easy to provide assistance from afar. Whether you’re helping a family member with their outdated computer or providing technical support, this program simplifies the process of connecting remotely.

How often do you use TeamViewer and which of its features are most important to you?
