How to Turn Enable/Disable Automatic Calendar Invites on MacOS – Guide

Apple’s iCloud email account automatically scans for ICS attachments, even from unknown senders. These invites are then added to all your linked calendars on iOS and macOS devices, thanks to the default iCalendar format.

Customizing your calendar view

Apple Calendar is the default calendar application, but you can switch to another if needed. However, it’s worth keeping Apple as your go-to since it offers a range of features and is integrated with other Apple apps.

Week and day views

To customize your work week, click the drop-down menu next to Days a week and select 5. This will show five days instead of seven. Alternatively, you can keep the Days per week selector at 7 and change the start day of the week by clicking the drop-down menu next to Start week on and selecting your preferred start day. This may help you plan your weeks and weekends more effectively.

Apple Calendar users can customize how they scroll through the week view by selecting an option from the drop-down menu next to “Scroll In Weekly View By” in the General tab. Options include scrolling by day, week, or month.

Users of the app can now scroll through weeks, with each week beginning on the chosen start day and ending on the following week’s start day. The previous week will no longer be visible.

Users of Apple’s Calendar app can now scroll through their schedule one day at a time. As they do, days will move off the left or right side of the screen, allowing them to view an entire week at once.

Today marks the end of the week, meaning that when you revisit this week, you’ll always be brought back to the present.

the hours of your day

Apple Calendar allows users to customize their active day, with the Day starts drop-down menu offering a range of times from midnight to noon and the Day ends drop-down menu providing options from noon to midnight.

default calendar

The General tab of your preferences panel may appear to have a redundant entry, but “Default Calendar” actually refers to two different things. The drop-down menu labeled Default Calendar App allows you to choose between Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook and other calendar apps. To learn more about how this works, read on.

Users of calendar apps can create individual calendars for different aspects of their lives, such as work, family, fitness and church. This allows them to keep their schedules separate and organized.

Definition of alerts

Customize your Apple Calendar reminders for upcoming events by clicking the Alerts tab at the top of the Preferences panel. Select how early you want to receive notification from the drop-down list next to Events, with options ranging from At event time to 2 days ahead.

You can customize your notifications for all-day events, such as birthdays, to arrive on the day of the event, one or two days before or a week before. You can also choose to receive notifications only on the device you are using to set preferences. Additionally, you can opt in for notifications when Apple Calendar determines it’s time to leave for your event based on traffic conditions. Lastly, you can select whether you want notifications about shared calendar events and event invitations.

Creating a new calendar

Apple Calendar allows users to create multiple calendars within the app, but only for their Apple accounts. To add a calendar to a Google or other third-party account, users must do so through the respective platform. To create a new calendar in an Apple account, go to File > New Calendar and select either iCloud or On my Mac depending on whether you want it accessible on mobile devices or just your computer.

Create a calendar in Apple’s Calendar app and customize it to your liking. Click the default name to give it a new one, and control-click on the calendar name to change its color or delete or merge it with an existing one.

sharing calendars

Apple Calendar allows users to delegate entire accounts or parts of accounts, as well as individual calendars, to other users. To give others the ability to create events on your behalf, delegation is necessary.

delegate an account

Delegating in Calendar is easy: go to the Preferences menu, select Accounts, highlight the account you want to delegate and click Delegation next to the Account Information tab. If your server allows it, you’re ready to delegate.

You can give someone access to your calendars by delegating your account. Select the calendars you want them to view, click ‘Edit’ and add their name in the pop-up window. Depending on your account type, they will be able to take various actions.

Users can edit by clicking the “Allow Recording” button.

Organizations must select the appropriate user access level to ensure their data is secure. It’s essential to determine which users need access to what information and assign them the correct level of authorization.

Subscribe to Calendars

Subscribing to calendars created by others is a great way to stay up-to-date on national holidays, sports team schedules and more. All you need is the URL of the calendar, which can be found with a simple Google search or by contacting the organization that publishes it. Once added, these calendars will appear in your own calendar view - but you can always remove them if desired.

To subscribe to a calendar, copy the URL and make sure it ends in “.ICS.” Then, open the Apple Calendar app and select “New Calendar Subscription” from the File menu. Paste your URL into the window that appears and customize your subscription settings.

The calendar has a color-coded system to help users quickly identify important dates.

you can choose to host your subscription on iCloud or on your Mac.

Do you want to stay up-to-date with alerts and attachments? Subscriptions can be set to update automatically on a regular basis.

Deleting a calendar

Select the calendar’s name, then go to the Edit drop-down menu and choose Delete. A pop-up will appear asking if you want to delete the entire calendar or merge its contents with another.

Merging calendars is a great way to keep information without permanently deleting it. However, if you decide to delete the calendar, all of its data will be gone for good. To do so, click Delete on the pop-up window. Alternatively, you can click Cancel if you’ve changed your mind.

If you’ve delegated a calendar to someone, make sure to remove them from it before deleting it. To do this, go to the Calendar drop-down menu and select Preferences. In the Accounts tab, click on the names of those you’ve delegated and hit the – icon to remove them and enable deletion.
