How to customize the Brightness of the iPhone Flashlight – Guide

The iPhone flashlight offers a bright light, but its intensity can be a downside, potentially startling those nearby.

Don’t let a too-bright flashlight ruin your night - you can easily customize the brightness of your iPhone’s flashlight.

Here it is how to do this in two quick steps.

How to access brightness setting

Accessing the brightness setting on your device requires a few extra steps. To do so, you must open the Control Center by swiping up from your application screen. Once there, press hard on the flashlight tile to access the glow - this is thanks to “3D touch”, a feature which records how hard you press and allows for more nuanced actions.

Using just their left thumb, some people can turn on a light by pressing a tile. Other fingers don’t work, no matter how hard they press. It may not be consistent, but it works for some.

How to adjust the brightness

Navigate to the brightness menu on your tablet and you’ll find five sections, each with a different level of brightness. The bottom section is the “off” section, which is a lighter shade of gray than the rest.

Tap different sections of the tablet shape to adjust the brightness of your flashlight, with the top section being the brightest and each section descending towards the off section being the darkest. You can also slide your finger over it to change brightness. For a fun twist, slide up-and-down repeatedly to make your flashlight pulse.
