Taking screenshots in Windows is easy and essential. Whether you’re using Windows 11 or an earlier version, the steps are the same. With this skill, you can share meaningful or funny moments with loved ones or take screenshots for work. We’ll show you how to do it.
Taking screenshots in Windows is simple: just press the Print Screen button. But if you need to capture a specific window or take a free-form screenshot, there are other options available.
Take a screenshot on Windows 10/11 with PrtScn key
Press the “Print Screen” key to quickly save a copy of your computer screen. Located on the top row of your keyboard, it may be labeled “PrtScn” or something similar. On some laptops, you may need to press the Function key and PrtScn together.
Press PrtScn to capture the entire screen and copy it to the clipboard. Then, paste the screenshot into any image-displaying program, such as Paint or Microsoft Word.
Press the Windows key + Shift + S to capture a screenshot of part of your screen. The image will be copied to the clipboard, which you can paste into another program.
