Guide: How to Access iPhone Notes on Windows 10 PC

Apple’s ecosystem is largely inaccessible to Windows users, with only a few exceptions. Despite the simplicity of some services, such as iCloud Drive and Photos, Apple has yet to offer direct support for Windows users. This includes the Notes app on iPhones, which cannot be used with Windows.

Don’t despair: there are ways to access iPhone notes from a Windows PC.

Three ways to access Notes on your computer have been identified: web app form, browser setting, and syncing with Gmail. Let’s explore these options.

1. Notes web app

Apple users can access Notes and other apps and services by logging into iCloud.com with their Apple ID credentials. To ensure security, they may need to enter an authentication code from their iPhone before continuing. It’s important to only select ‘Trust’ if the computer is theirs.

Users can quickly access their iPhone notes by clicking on the Notes shortcut on the iCloud Launchpad.

The Notes web app lets you read, edit, create and share notes, as well as add or rename folders - just like on iPhone. Changes are synced to your iPhone via iCloud, but archiving and locking notes is not available.

To enable iCloud sync for Notes on your iPhone, go to Settings> Apple ID> iCloud and turn on the switch next to Notes.

You can’t view or edit notes stored in the On My iPhone folder of the Notes app on your iPhone. To access them, you must move them to a folder in the iCloud section.

It’s essential to remember: when using a public or shared computer, make sure to sign out of iCloud after accessing your iPhone notes. When prompted for confirmation, select the “Sign Out” option – not the “Trust and Sign Out” option.

2. Create a Progressive Web App (PWA) for notes

Accessing your iPhone notes can be made easier by forcing the Notes web app to work as a PWA. To do this, use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge Chromium.

Users of public or shared computers should be aware: creating Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) is not recommended.

Log in to iCloud.com, check the ‘Stay signed in’ box, enter your Apple ID credentials and click ‘Trust’ when prompted.

Users can create a shortcut to the Notes web app on their Chrome browser by accessing the iCloud Launchpad and selecting “More tools” from the Chrome menu.

Check the box to open as a window, then click “Create” to finish.

To install Edge’s app version of a website, open the browser menu, select ‘Apps’, click ‘Install this site as an app’ and then click ‘Install’.

Users can now quickly access Notes by clicking the iCloud Notes icon on their desktop.

Users can now access a streamlined web app experience in Chrome or Edge, with no address bar. The app allows for easy viewing, adding, editing and sharing of notes.

Staying signed in to iCloud.com and trusting your computer allows you to quickly access Notes from both your desktop and iPhone.

3. Sync notes with Gmail

Want to sync your iPhone Notes with Gmail? It’s easy – just add a Google account to your device. However, only new notes created in the Gmail folder will be synced, not existing ones.

To access Gmail on your iPhone, open the Settings app and navigate to Passwords & Accounts.

Adding a Google account to your iPhone is easy: simply tap the ‘Add Accounts’ option on the Passwords & Accounts screen, and you’ll be ready to use Gmail.

Activate Notes by flipping the switch.

The Notes app now features a separate folder under the Gmail header, allowing users to access their notes more easily.

Gmail’s web app now allows users to access their Notes with just one click. Simply select ‘Notes’ from the left side of the app to view all your notes.

Gmail users can’t edit notes created on their iPhones through the web app, but our guide explains how to view them.

Users of Gmail can now access their notes from their PC without having to log in to iCloud.com, thanks to a new method that allows them to create notes specifically for this purpose.

Using third-party apps, iCloud, and iTunes are the only ways to access iPhone notes on a PC. With no dedicated Notes app for Windows available, users must quickly become accustomed to these methods.

Google Keep is a great way to transfer your notes from the iPhone’s Notes app. Here’s how to make the switch quickly and easily.
