How To Get Songs on an iPhone without using iTunes – Guide
With over 700 million iPhones in circulation, major updates and modifications have been met with both praise and criticism. Music downloads remain a challenge for iPhone users, as there is no way to download music without using iTunes.
Streaming music is a great way to access your favorite tunes without taking up storage space on your phone. But it can be costly when it comes to data usage. Here, I’ll explain how to download music onto an iPhone without using iTunes.
Download songs from Apple Music to your iPhone
Apple Music provides users with access to millions of songs that can be streamed wirelessly, as well as the ability to save them for offline listening on their iPhones.
Enable Library Sync for your Apple ID by going to Settings > Music and turning it on.
To ensure your Apple Music library is always available on your iPhone, enable Automatic Downloads in Settings > Music.
Tap the download icon next to the item you want to save. The download icon looks like a cloud with an arrow pointing down.
To save music, albums, playlists or videos to your library, simply press and hold the item and select ‘Add to Library’.
Head to the Library to access the latest music, albums, playlists and videos you’ve added.
Download the file by tapping the icon of a cloud with a downward arrow.
You can now access your music, album, playlist or video on your iPhone even when you’re not connected to the internet – it’s been downloaded and is ready to go.
Download YouTube Music to Your iPhone
Subscribers of YouTube Music Premium can now access their favorite music, playlists, and albums offline on their iPhones by downloading them.
To access music offline, open YouTube Music and select the song, album or playlist you wish to download.
Download the app by tapping the arrow.
You can now access your favorite music offline, with the addition of songs, albums and playlists to the Downloads section of your Library.
Add music to your iPhone using iCloud Drive
If you want to add music to your iPhone, using iCloud Drive is an option - but make sure you have the right to copy or share the content. Uploading songs without permission can lead to suspension of your iCloud account.
To access iCloud Drive on a Mac, open the Finder and navigate to its location.
Create a new folder quickly and easily by selecting File > New Folder or pressing Shift + Command + N.
macOS Finder now offers users the ability to quickly create new folders with the addition of a “New Folder” file menu item.
Create a folder and name it “Music”.
Access the Music folder.
To access music on your iPhone, simply drag tracks into the Music folder.
Copying and pasting music into the Music folder instead of dragging and dropping is the best way to ensure it remains available in its original location. To do this, press Command + C to copy it from its source, then Command + V to paste it into the Music folder. This will automatically upload your music to iCloud Drive.
You can access your music from iCloud on your iPhone by opening the Files app.
To access the music you’ve loaded onto your Mac, simply navigate to and open the Music folder.
Tap a track to instantly download it to your device, or tap the cloud and arrow icon to save it to your iPhone.
Users can now access their music stored in iCloud Drive and play it with a single tap.
Files stored in iCloud Drive on both iPhone and Mac are automatically synced, so deleting a file from one device will result in its deletion from the other.
You can now store your favorite tunes on your iPhone.
