Guide: Fix ‘EpocCam Not Working on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet’ Issue

Working from home is becoming increasingly popular, but it can be difficult without the right equipment. Fortunately, those without webcams can still join in: apps such as EpocCam and iVCam allow users to use their iPhones or Android devices as webcams.

Setting up apps like EpocCam can be tricky for beginners, leading to connection errors if not done correctly.

Having trouble getting EpocCam to work with video calling apps like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet? Here are five ways to fix it. Download the necessary drivers, keep the apps up-to-date, adjust app settings and more.

1. Download the required drivers for EpocCam

EpocCam allows users to view their phone camera’s live feed on their Mac or PC. To use the app with Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet, drivers must be downloaded. The EpocCam app is available for both iPhone and Android devices, while the EpocCam viewer can be downloaded for Mac or PC.

Visit Kinoni.com to download and install the macOS and Windows drivers for the app onto your device.

2. Change the app settings

To use your phone as a webcam on video conferencing platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet, you must first download and install EpocCam drivers on your desktop and adjust the camera settings.

Zoom

To use Zoom, simply follow these easy steps: 1) Download the app, 2) Create an account, 3) Join a meeting. With these three simple steps, you’ll be ready to start using Zoom in no time.

Open the app on Mac or Windows and select the Settings icon at the top.

Go to the video section of your device and switch the camera from FaceTime HD to EpocCam.

Set the default microphone to EpocCam in the audio settings.

From now on, Zoom meetings will be powered by EpocCam, using the front camera of your phone.

Microsoft Teams

To use Microsoft Teams on Mac or PC, open the app and select Kinoni audio services and EpocCam as the default video camera in the Devices menu under Settings.

Google Meet

To ensure your audio and video are working properly on Google Meet, open the app on the web and select Kinoni audio source as the default microphone from the Audio menu, and EpocCam from the Video menu Camera as your default video camera.

3. Use the same Wi-Fi network

To ensure a smooth streaming experience, EpocCam users should connect their phone and laptop to the same high-speed Wi-Fi network.

I attempted to connect my laptop to my phone’s internet via mobile hotspot, but it was unsuccessful. An alternative option is to use a USB data cable to link your phone and Mac or PC, then launch the EpocCam app for video calls.

4. Update the app to the latest version

Updating Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Skype apps is essential for smooth streaming - not the EpocCam viewer app.

Last week, I encountered an issue with EpocCam and Zoom on my Mac: the EpocCam option had vanished from the Zoom Settings menu. Updating the Zoom app to its latest version solved the problem.

5. Update EpocCam drivers

To ensure EpocCam is compatible with the latest video apps, users should update their drivers to the most recent version.

Updating EpocCam drivers on Windows laptops is easy with these simple steps.

To access Device Manager, users can tap the Windows button and type in the program’s name.

Pressing enter will open the device manager.

Right-click on the Kinoni microphone, found in the Audio input and output option, and select ‘Update drivers’ to use your phone’s microphone as the default for video apps.

Scroll down and update the EpocCam drivers under Sound, video and game controllers.
